Why should we give importance to the right endeavours and thoughts all through life? Bhagawan lovingly guides us today.
A merchant calculates debit and credit at the end of a week, month, year and draws up the balance sheet to arrive at one value — his earnings. So too, in this business of life, everything ends leaving some net positive, after all the give and take is accounted for. The experiences that persist to the very last moment of life, the two or three that well up into consciousness when one recalls all that has happened in life, these are the genuine achievements. At the point of death, if one yearns to cater to the tongue, it is proof that throughout life the tongue has been the master. Or if a woman remembers her child and seeks to fondle it, the inner desire (samskara) of child-love has been predominant all through life. It proves that all other experiences have been thrown into oblivion. Therefore, direct the entire current of life towards acquisition of the mental samskara that you want to have during the last moment. Fix your attention upon it, day and night.

At times, we may have a difficult day or go through a rough patch. How should we pull ourselves up? Bhagawan lovingly reminds us today.
People think that the more one has of worldly goods the happier one would be. But, as desires grow, disappointments and troubles also increase. There should be a limit to our desires, attachments and ambitions. The world is suffering from numerous troubles because people set no limits on their desires. It’s a mistake to seek an unending series of pleasures and comforts in life. Real happiness cannot be found that way. Without experiencing difficulties and troubles, how will you know the value of peace and pleasure? Life is a constant alternation between pleasure and pain, joy and sorrow, heat and cold. The sour rind that covers an orange protects the sweet juice inside. Hence look upon pain, anxiety and sorrow as the protecting cover for peace and bliss that you will experience later. Your mind is the cause of bondage and liberation as well.

Why should we serve those in need in whatever way we can? Bhagawan lovingly reminds us today.
You are born in society, you grow in society, and earn name and fame in society. You learn many skills from the society and develop intelligence, and thereby you gain reputation for being intelligent. You received all these precious gifts from society. Have anyone of you, young men and women, thought of showing gratitude to the society from which you got the name and fame? What service are you rendering to the society in return for the good things received? How are you expressing your gratitude to society? Put these questions to yourself, and you get shallow answers. Ingratitude is incorrect. Every human being must possess the quality of gratitude. Being beneficiaries one must show gratitude. And as an expression of one’s gratitude, one should render selfless service to the society; it is one’s foremost duty.

Why does life appear difficult and overpowering at times and light some other time? What should we do to balance? Bhagawan lovingly gives us a clarion call today.
If you are careless about the discipline of truth, every duty laid on you by dharma and every action prompted by dharma will hang heavy as a burden. Hence, you must search for the reality behind all these phenomena in your daily living, and that search will make all your duties, which are dharmic actions, light and pleasant. The Lord has designed people such that they are inclined towards God and are delighted at the expansion of their vision, and are happy when they are moral and virtuous. So, people must serve their own best interests by adhering to their basic nature, by concentrating on the Divine (Brahman), by assiduously cultivating truth, and by rigorously practicing right conduct (dharma).
- Dharma Vahini, Ch 13.
Your good conduct is your true wealth. - Baba
